Privacy notice What this site does — and doesn’t — collect

FXVane is an information site about exchange rates and the FX market. It has no accounts, no logins and no forms that collect personal data. Two tools measure how the site is used: Google Analytics 4 and the page-view counter of Cloudflare, the network that serves it. Both report totals to us rather than people, and both are described in full below.

The short version

No sign-ups, no personal-data forms, no advertising pixels, no ads. Google Analytics tells us which guides get read and where readers arrive from. Cloudflare counts page views as it serves each page. Google Fonts delivers the typefaces. If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google Analytics runs without cookies.

How visits are counted

FXVane uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-1KEGJ1RM19). It records page views, time on page, the type of device and browser, the country or region a visit comes from and the site or search that sent it. We see that as aggregate reports. We do not see names or email addresses, and nothing you type into the calculators is sent to it. Google states that Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google Analytics starts in a denied state and sets no analytics cookies. The site has no consent banner, so it stays that way for your whole visit. It still sends Google a cookieless ping when a page opens, and those pings cannot be joined up into one person’s visits. Everywhere else it runs with its normal cookies, listed in the next section.

Cloudflare, which serves the site, also counts page views. As a page is delivered it adds a small script from static.cloudflareinsights.com. That script is not part of our own code, sets no cookies and gives us totals only: how often a page was opened and how quickly it loaded.

There is no advertising tag, no remarketing pixel and no fingerprinting. We use the numbers for one thing: seeing which guides people actually read, so we know what to write next and what to fix. If you would rather not be counted at all, the section on your choices below explains how to stop it.

Cookies and local storage

FXVane sets no cookies of its own and stores nothing in your browser’s local storage. Outside the regions named above, Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies: _ga, which tells one browser from another, and _ga_1KEGJ1RM19, which keeps track of the current session. By default both last up to two years. You can clear or block them in your browser at any time and every page still works. Cloudflare may set a token of its own as part of serving and protecting the site; that is theirs rather than ours, and it is not used to build an advertising profile.

Web fonts

The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). Delivering those fonts involves a request to Google’s servers, which may expose your IP address to Google as part of that request. We mention this so the picture is complete.

Outbound and sponsored links

Some links lead to third-party sites, and some of those are sponsored referral links (for example, to Binance). Once you leave FXVane, the destination’s own privacy policy applies, not ours. See our disclosure for how that works.

What we never collect

  • Two-factor (2FA) codes
  • Wallet recovery or seed phrases
  • KYC or identity documents
  • Exchange API keys or secrets
  • Card or bank-account numbers
A safety note

No legitimate site — ours or an exchange’s — will ask for your password, 2FA code or recovery phrase. If any page claiming to be us asks for these, it isn’t us.

Your choices

Google offers a browser add-on that switches Google Analytics off on every site you visit. An ordinary content blocker or tracking-protection extension will stop both measurement scripts from loading, and the site works exactly the same without them. The same tool will usually stop the request to Google for the web fonts, at the cost of the page falling back to your system typefaces. None of the content is gated on any of this.
